Okay so the Davao Bloggers Society got invited to the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event last week and honestly… I was green with envy.
I wasn’t one of the lucky few who got to go and I’m genuinely a little sad about that. But then again, I haven’t really established myself yet as a tech-related website or blogger so… I’ll have to work doubly hard to get some domain authority down or at least get known as someone who’s also interested in reviewing these things… from a layman’s point of view… and one who’s going to be heavily reliant on GSMArena for tech stuff etcetera.
But I’ve been seeing this phone everywhere on my feed and when I finally saw what it actually was… the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8… I knew.
That’s the one.
That’s the phone I want.
The Fold 8 unfolds into a 7.6-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED display at 120Hz with a peak brightness of 3000 nits, running on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset at 3nm, with a 4800mAh battery and 45W wired charging.
It weighs only 201g at just 4.5mm thin when open… which is k inda what I was dreaming the new shape would be aside from the absurd ones I dreamt of when Samsung said they had a new shape coming. Think spheres and crystal ball shaped phones, a wrap-around your wrist kinda thin film thing and last, but not least, the expanding square shaped phone.
I guess all the rest, except the square that turns into a tablet was the only one I got right.

This shoots 8K video, supports Samsung DeX for desktop use, has Android 17 with up to 7 major OS upgrades, and comes in Graphite, Cream, Lavender, and Pistachio. Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. And boom. Did I include enough booms?
Oh yeah, got to mention the other two: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 were also announced alongside it, and both look amazing in their own right. But the Fold 8 is the one that really appeals to me.
