Samsung Galaxy A57 5G: First Impressions and Why I’m Curious About This One

I’ve been looking for a phone to replace my A73 (and my wife’s Note 10S Plus) for a while now.

I checked out Tecno, Huawei, a few others… nothing really clicked yet.

… except maybe the Tecno Spark Slim… but based on my wife’s excessive complaints about the Spark Go 2, I’m having doubts about the brand… or maybe because the Spark Go 2 is too much of an entry level phone for someone who’s used to a flagship model from Samsung… maybe…

And then there’s the Nova 15 Max from Huawei which made me go through a rabbit hole in GSMArena…

I wanna try these other phones but I’ve been too used to Samsung’s interface that I fear a massive upheaval when I make a shift…

So, when the Galaxy A57 5G showed up because fellow Davao Bloggers have been reviewing it, I had to take a look at the spec sheet and what I saw (plus the price tag) made me pay attention.

Released April 9, 2026, the A57 5G runs Android 16 with One UI 8.5, and Samsung is promising up to 6 major Android upgrades. That’s the kind of long-term support that I like especially since I don’t really upgrade every year. Heck, this A73 I have has been with me since… 2022?

2023?

I’ve kept phones for far longer than that.

  • The display is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ panel at 120Hz, with HDR10+ and peak brightness of 1900 nits, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+. That means I’ll still be able to see what’s on my screen even if I’m directly under the Davao sun.
  • It’s powered by the Exynos 1680 chipset (4nm) with an octa-core CPU and Xclipse 550 GPU, paired with 8 or 12GB RAM and storage options up to 512GB on UFS 3.1, with no card slot. Not having a card slot is a bit of a deal breaker but not too much. I can still store stuff in an OTG USB anyway.
  • The triple rear camera leads with a 50MP f/1.8 main sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro, recording up to 4K at 30fps.
  • Battery is 5000mAh with 45W charging, and the body weighs 179g at 6.9mm thick, with IP68 water resistance.

For ₱28,990 with the current promo, plus free Care+, adapter, and case… I’m tempted.

… really tempted…

30K…

I need to go pay some debts first before I splurge on this one.

Oh but if I had the money…

The disposable cash to er… dispose of…

I’d have one in my hands in an instant.

On another note… as a Davao Bloggers Society member, I should also check Honor‘s lineup since we’re partnered with them.

Haven’t gotten to that yet, but several fellow bloggers have already reviewed the Samsung A57 and their feedback looks promising.
